Is your furniture solid wood?

Yes our furniture is made from solid pine, no MDF, plywood or chipboard is used in any of our furniture.

Are your drawers fully dovetailed?

Yes, our drawers are dovetailed at the front and rear of the drawer − not just the front as you may find elsewhere!

Does your children’s wardrobe break down?

Our children’s wardrobe has a detachable pelmet but the main carcass does not break down however it is small enough to go up the vast majority of stair cases. If you have special needs in this area please contact us.

Is your furniture available in other finishes?

All our furniture is finished in antique pine stain and wax. Should you wish to apply your own finish please contact us as the furniture is available unfinished.

I love your furniture but none of the themes suit my child’s interests, are you able to make furniture to my own ideas?

We employ highly skilled craftsmen who are able to work from your own ideas. If you can give us some details of exactly what you want we can supply you with a price.

Is your furniture available in other sizes?

No, all sizes are standard and we are not able to supply the furniture with any size variation.

Is the bed supplied with a mattress?

The bed is supplied without a mattress; the size required is a standard single, which is 90cm x 190cm (3’ x 6’3”)

I want to match the furniture with some other items, are you able to supply a sample?

Yes, use our contact form to supply us with your postal address and we will get a sample out to you.

Can I visit your workshop to see samples of the furniture?

It must be understood that we are a workshop and not a retail outlet. It is not possible to buy from the workshop but if you wish to make arrangements to visit and view some furniture we will always try to accommodate you. Due to access difficulties and health and safety issues please make arrangements with the office. We can not admit anyone to the workshop without a prior appointment.

How is your furniture delivered?

If you order one or two small items these may be delivered by parcel post, otherwise our driver will deliver your furniture to the ground floor.

How much is delivery?

Standard Delivery is £35 to most of mainland Britain, however due to the higher costs of delivery to the parts of the country furthest from our workshop there may be an extra fee if you live in one of the postcode areas listed on our delivery page. This is dependant on the size of the order and whether we already have any other deliveries planned to your area. We ask that if you do require delivery to one of these areas you contact us prior to ordering and we can give you a quote.

How do I take care of my furniture?

All Steve Allen Furniture is finished by hand using a water based wood stain, followed by hand waxing. The wax finish is very forgiving as is the soft wood (pine) and can be easily maintained by polishing with a furniture polish such as Pledge. Do not use furniture polish which includes any sort of colouring or any abrasive cleaner.
