Steve Allen - Director Steve Allen Furniture
Baraba

Hi, I’m Barbara

I’ve worked with Steve as Company Manager for around five years and I’m usually your first point of call if you telephone.

I’m here to answer any questions you have about our furniture and the services we offer. I take orders & payments, arrange deliveries and discuss any special custom requirements.

Every Steve Allen customer is given individual attention before, during and after your order is processed ~ so, if there’s anything I can do to make your experience with our company easier, just ask!

Chris

I’m Chirs

I came to work for Steve twenty five years ago as an Apprentice Carver, but I’ve managed to get a bit of experience under my belt since 1984!

These days I’ve progressed to Principal Furniture Carver - a job I love. It allows me to be creative with any new designs that come up ~ and of course, I always enjoy crafting our standard themed ranges. The designs we develop are intricate and take hours to construct to such high standards.

It’s great to be able to create something that people of all ages appreciate and it’s good to know that the furniture I enjoy producing / the skills I use / the care and time that’s been taken in its creation, will be passed down in families and last for years and years.

Sharon

I’m Sharon

I’m the Workshop Co-ordinator and Finisher - this means that I’m responsible for overseeing the flow in our workshop, from the initial construction stage to when the furniture leaves our premises.

When a commission is passed to me by Barbara, I allocate the work to the various people who specialise in each stage of its development. I also order the hardware, such as hinges and Safe T Closers, and ‘finish’ off your furniture.

‘Finishing’ is the last part of the manufacturing process; I apply the Antique Pine stain and wax ~ it gives the wood that lovely, warm look and shows off the grain. I enjoy what I do, especially when I see the finished products; I love the ‘new’ smell ~ and it’s really just gorgeous!

Luke

I’m Luke

and I’m an Apprentice Carver. I’ve been here for three years, starting as a Finisher under Sharon’s supervision. Since then, I’ve progressed through working on different stages of furniture development and manufacture in the workshop. It’s a really interesting job and I enjoy working here. My experience so far has given me a good understanding of the wood we use and how much time and effort each piece demands.

I’m mastering the art of wood carving from Chris, who has a vast amount of experience. It gives me a sense of satisfaction and achievement when I see a finished piece in front of me. It’s worthwhile, especially when I imagine a child’s face on seeing their new wardrobe or bed.

Carmel

I’m Carmel

~ the company’s Graphic Designer. I designed the ‘front end’ of our current website and I’m also responsible for the Steve Allen corporate image, which is all done in~house.

I also help Barbara out in the office with various administrative tasks ~ there’s never a dull day here!

Like most of Steve’s employees, I’m a parent. My two youngest children each have a Steve Allen bed. They’re typical kids and their furniture has seen some very lively activity, as well as being star exhibits in their rooms!
